Far from the glamor of full-size sensors, APS-C hybrids still have their say. Canon follows Sony, which has just renewed its Alpha range (recently updated), but adopts an approach that is both more affordable and much simpler. Two years after a convincing M100 (see our test), Canon modernizes it to give birth to the M200. The latter inherits the compact and minimalist appearance of its predecessor.
If the Canon EOS M200 gains new features, it retains much of the design of its predecessor, the M100. Its case is particularly small for an APS-C and does not interfere with many knobs or knobs. This apparent simplicity does not prevent him from integrating a new DIGIC 8 processor that allows him to manage the 4K video in 25 fps and the FHD in 120 fps, while gaining a new autofocus ensuring a continuous follow-up (in photo and video ) of the face and eyes. This autofocus announces a sensitivity of IL-4, which seems important for a device of this type. One can also note the arrival of a silent photo mode thanks to an electronic shutter system operating up to 1 / 4,000s. Its sensor remains a 24.1 megapixel CMOS with Dual AF Pixel autofocus technology, almost equivalent to the one that fitted the M100.
